Dongzhi festival - koi fish tang yuan

Today is the 15th day of the lunar new year aka The lantern festival . It's a tradition to consume tang yuan because they represent family reunion and unity, and their shape is the same as the full moon of that night. This day also marks the Chinese people for welcoming the first full moon of the new year. And marks the last day of Chinese New Year celebrations.

Instead of the traditional round colored balls , I also made koi fish shaped tang yuan to symbolise "prosperity ". Ain't they cute?

I made a simple receipe chart so mummy and kids can make them together .

 Happy lantern festival everyone '
